Poems

Masquerade
“My inferno’s just like Romeo’s”
Walking away from an impuissant and helpless situation and realizing with hindsight that everything about it was merely a façade.
Ashes shall stay.
“Don’t come alive, don’t dare”
The poem was inspired by this photograph from the Vietnam war and includes some references to it. However, it isn’t specific to it. For example, one other event mentioned in the poem is the Kamikaze. Having said that, the poem speaks generally and can be associated with the consequences of pretty much any conflict- as well as the plight of a soldier.

Lucelia
“all of her luminosities are evanescent ”
This poem is associated with the belief that no one is born evil, and that certain circumstances influence a change in behaviour. I express this with the usage of an extended metaphor. “Lucelia” is an innocent girl who got enchanted by the world of dark fantasies and evil.

Swallow
“Take my ruby from the hilt”
I wrote this as an extended metaphor, referring to “The happy prince” by Oscar Wilde, but with a twist and some minor modifications to the story. In my version, the swallow is portrayed as an evil character who steals the prince jewels for Egypt and doesn’t help the needy, despite promising to do so. The prince is left feeling betrayed and used by the swallow, who he thought was his friend.

Two more minutes
“Your magicians call it futile, gray, and ghastly”
The poem can be associated with the phrase “justice delayed is justice denied”. It was inspired by heartbreaking cases such as Nirbhaya and Hathras. “They”, in this poem, represents the mighty justice system.

Blues on your lilac glow
“Forever is only a clone ”
Calicos and Tapestries
“Maybe the glory is in accepting defeat ”
This poem is associated with ego, tyranny and victory. I express this through the use of an anecdote, where the narrator is a “rebel” that poses a challenge to the tyrant.

Pacific And Utopian Lakes.
“I search for you in Babylon, the garden and the ruins ”

Drizzle in your xeric
“You’re the oak tree in a land so barren”
The poem idolises a loved one and revolves around themes of hope and respect.

To charge headlong at the deathbed
“A badge of unrecorded win”
This compares the glories of the light brigade with that of Pranav Venkatesh, whose case contributed to the legalisation of passive euthanasia in India.

Harbinger of vacancy
“A fraction of your lustre”
This is about the wonders of Mount Kailash and the legend surrounding it.

Beloved Bacchus
“For all my chivalry I’ve cried wax for ”
This poem mixes the the tale of Ariadne and Bacchus with modern concepts. It includes themes of jealousy, violence, sacrifice and love.

Room of glee
“One can only maim your feet”
Success certainly has no shortcut, and that’s what makes it so prestigious. It all depends on the way you see it. People can escape hard work, but it should be noted that giving up on something is easier than actually crumbling to achieve it. Instead, I believe in taking the road not travelled by- the one that’s much harder to walk on.
Dreamy fancy
“I honed my sword, but I was afraid to kill.”
The poem attempts to talk about areas concerning social anxiety/phobia.

String and bead
“A willow is not a birch”
This is about the incompetency of law enforcement and how quickly people forget a matter of injustice that they once felt extremely strongly about.

Nefelibata
“Ere you could feel your ecstasy, your poesy is ready”
This is about a rainy morning and the way nature can speak to you in so many different ways, but in ways that are seldom noticed or even appreciated.

Room on the west
“This is the portrait he never learned to paint ”
People often mistake solitude for negativity and loneliness. Solitude is simply the place where you wish to be with only yourself. Solitude is also immensely powerful and impactful, for that’s the time where you let your thoughts flow out of your mind in the form of art and creativity. In this poem, there’s a brooding building. This building has not been discovered by a lot of people yet. The protagonist takes a trip down the scary-looking building and espies two rooms in an empty hall. She explores both the rooms carefully and critically.

Label
“Two firmaments coalesced
To coruscate into hades”
This is about how quickly people are to judge others and insult them, or blame them for certain circumstances, thereby invalidating what they had to go through.
